Task Force Update
The Task Force has often been asked: "Are you finished with your job?" The answer is "No!"
However we have accomplished a number of things. We have listened to the congregation members in small home groups. We have put together some goals and objectives from these events. Some of these goals and objectives have already been implemented by the Council and Committees. The rest are compiled with other goals and objectives that came from the Congregational Forum in February.
Following these events, was the dinner and heritage evening led by Carolyn McBride. This was reportedly well received by many who attended. Here again we took comments from the wall charts and wrote goals and objectives. Now we have many goals and objectives which will need to be drawn together into three or four goals and objectives so that they may become manageable and countable.
The next step is to have another meeting with the Council and Leaders of the church to seek out the "Norms" of the Congregation. "Norms" are those little hidden unspoken rules that each organization has that affect people. A "Norm" might be that you just do not sit in a particular pew because it belongs to Mr. Guru parishioner. We will be waiting to have this meeting until we have our new pastor.
The Task Force has also helped the Call Committee fill out the Congregation's Ministry Site Profile. In our work we saw some issues that were of concern to the congregation that needed to be addressed. We submitted these concerns to the Call Committee in the form of questions to be asked of candidates on the Call List. The Task Force stands ready to finish its work when we see what the new pastor desires from us.
In Christ,
