The Faith Formation Committee consists of Pastor Harold Vanicek, Sandy Schmidtzinsky, Evelyn Wells, and Rhonda Behrends, Council Liaison. We meet every first Thursday with Sheree Burrow, the youth leader at St. Paul. We are responsible for providing faith-building opportunities at Zion as well as coordinating youth activities with St. Paul. We try to follow our youth from first prayer to first Communion to first steps into the world. We hope to add special studies for adults in the future. We are blessed with dedicated Sunday School teachers such as Stanley Sultemeier and Sandy Schmidtzinsky for junior and senior high, Rhonda Behrends for pre-school through third grade and substitutes, Mary Wilson and Genie Flink. Pastor Harold leads the youth of both churches. We help him to coordinate activities such as camp, vacation Bible school, the Christmas program, and the youth center, “Elijah’s Cave.” We also organize the participation of the youth at the 10:30 AM service on the second Sunday of each month during the school year. The children greet, usher, read lessons and ring the bells.
We thank the congregation for your continued support of our youth, such as renovating the basement for the Youth and Family Center, and paying for camp tuitions and the Cross Trails Day Camp the week of July 24. Our youth numbers may be small but we are growing in enthusiasm for Christ! Come join the Faith Formation Committee and be a part of this exciting part of Zion’s ministry.
