Pastor Harold joined Zion Lutheran and St. Paul, Cave Creek, in August 2009, but his roots stretch back to growing up in the budding metropolis of Rosebud, Texas (pop. 2000). Before becoming a pastor, he followed his passion of rockets and space and earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
It was in his UT physics labs and math classes where Harold fell deeper in love with the mysteries of life and the world around us. The UT Lutheran campus ministry became a place where he found his faith and science background growing together in new ways, eventually leading to meeting his wife, Deborah, having two kiddos: Virginia and Henry, and attending Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
A passion of Harold’s is listening to other’s stories…hearing where people have come from, hearing how they are connected to others, and in all this seeing and pointing out where God’s Spirit is present and alive, bringing life to you, me, and to this amazing world.
Pastor Harold is married to Deborah and they have two children: Virginia and Henry. Harold loves watching college football and does turn a shade of burnt-orange on Saturdays in the Fall. Hobbies include woodworking, jogging, tinkering with technology, and spending time with the family.
And, oh yes, Harold still dreams of becoming the first “pastronaut.”
